Do you know every street light of this city

eulogize the dead sparrows,

their mourning inefficient,

their yellow light melding to dark cries?

Do you know this city

is a poor lizard closing his eyelids?

trying to camouflage with naked dreams

Of you, me and other hundred nameless?

Do you know this city is

an alchemist, casting spells

from his long majestic tongue,

plotting against the hierarchy of angels?

Do you know this city is

 a bright planet where bullets

shrink to flowers under

indigo skies without sunsets?

Do you know this city

is a wild cuckoo laying

its polka dotted eggs on

my eye socket and insisting

to mother them with care?

Do you know this city is

the wrinkled hand of evil stepmother,

opening my mouth wide,

to make me eat poisoned watermelons?

Do you know this city

is a shiver, opening the grey curtains

of my feverish head, while drinking

from a cup made of fallen stars?

Do you know this city

is a jelly knot on my spine,

making it hard to move,

 weighting me down?

Do you know this city whispers

in the night like a virgin with

brave blue lilies blooming in her wrist?

Do you know this city is

a corpse, washed and then dressed

in rainbow clothes- a perfect lie?

Do you know this city is

a glassy eyed owl,

curling under the candle lights

afraid of the day’s chatter?

Do you know this city is

a fable where dragons breath flames,

its bridges too tenuous yet imprisoning?

Do you know this city is a whale

bleeding white and red, in Christmas aesthetics,

rigor mortis settling into us?

Do you know this city is a tortoise

who borrowed feathers from peacocks

and tried to fly just to fall and die?

Do you know this city is

the dark face of fathers trying

to hold their grip on the bitches they fed?

Do you know this city is a tragic palace,

where lovers are not allowed to love

but to get killed for their heart’s desires?

Do you know this city is

the batter for a pale muse,

an old myth linked in her small hands?

Do you know this city is

an exiled god,

whose wreath is cold as ice?

Do you know this city is

the taste of chewed bubble gum,

nothing new, a familiar sigh?

Do you know this city is

a tyrant, knife of a powerful dynasty

beheading those who try to walk away?

Do you know the city is

a tongue twister, a puzzle

in which am not interested?

Do you know this city is a nightmare,

this same city where my house is and

you want me to talk about?

Do you know this city is

everything I hate, the one which

sneers calling me a coward?

Do you know that am a total stranger here,

a mice caught by this big cat,

 trying to flew away,

but where will I go?
